NOVEMBER: "Dia de los Muertos" (2:55)
lyrics and music by Josh Spurling, Leif Purple
Never were the words that flowed that day. The pen was bonded
by blood or so we'd say. We were just two poor kids running
the street, marching to the sound of a different beat. We were
gonna change the world forever more, lying wasted on the floor.
Built our dreams upon the lie. All these years I watched you
die. Oh man, you should have come to see your life story
reduced to a dirty cup of tea while on display your filthy
poetry. Singing "Sleep My Son" onto your tombstone with me.
Sleep, my son. Sun will rise tomorrow. Another day's ending
and your journey begins.
The world was ours and we smoked it up quick. Purple Casanova
and the Lunatic, we were indestructible back in the daze.
Now I'm pushing middle age, and you're a decade in your grave.
Blended the colors to obscure the grief. Drowning in purple
with my friend, Leif. 'Round and 'round and 'round it goes,
and the scar shows. And when the party's over, we foolish
bastards are writing like a madman, but the candle burns
faster. Never were the words that flowed that day. Dream a
dream as the others fade away.
